California Bill Seeks To Make Sex Offender Registration Optional For LGBT Statutory Rape Cases

California is an absolute cesspit.

Don’t get me wrong, much of the land itself is beautiful and is surprisingly still home to many ardent conservatives and Republicans.

The immoral legislation continually churning out of Sacramento, however, is rapidly turning the Golden State into an unlivable leftist wasteland, even more so than it already was.

Case in point: Senate Bill 145, lovingly titled the “LGBTQ Young People Nondiscrimination in the Sex Offender Registry Act.”

If the bill, which was passed by the Senate last year but stalled out in the Assembly, gains traction in the 2020 legislative session, it would make it optional for homosexual statutory rapists to be included in the state’s sex offender registry.

Seriously.

According to The Bay Area Reporter, SB 145 “would grant judges discretion to decide if a person should have to register as a sex offender if that person is within 10 years of age of a consensual sexual partner between the age of 14 and 17 and engages in oral or anal intercourse with the younger person.”

Under current state law, the person would automatically be added to the state’s sex offender registry, while a similar person who had vaginal intercourse with a minor could evade the registry if their judge is in a good mood that day.

So, using typical liberal logic, Sen. Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco), the bill’s author, wants to make sure that gay and straight statutory rapists can skip being listed as a sex offender rather than, you know, treating sex offenders like sex offenders and withholding lenience based purely on their sexual orientation!

Back in August, LGBT advocacy groups mourned the bill being held back in the Assembly after it sailed through the Senate.

“Today, we are extremely disappointed with Assembly Appropriations Committee Chair Lorena Gonzalez for allowing an outdated law that discriminates against LGBTQ people to remain on the books,” reads a statement from Equality California director Rick Zbur. “Law enforcement, sexual assault survivors and civil rights groups alike support this bipartisan bill because it would make California’s sex offender registry more effective and end blatant anti-LGBTQ discrimination.”

“Regrettably, this is not the first time that this Committee, led by this Chair, has stood in the way of LGBTQ civil rights legislation and demonstrated a lack of understanding of LGBTQ civil rights issues,” Zbur continues. “The impact of today’s decision is neither hypothetical nor abstract. When this Committee and this Chair refuse to listen to law enforcement, sexual assault survivors and civil rights organizations, Californians suffer as a result.”

However, Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez (D-San Diego) fired back on Twitter, arguing that the bill was dangerously lenient regarding sexual relations between adults and minors:

The bill is a two year bill so we can line up the sections to ensure a 24 year old can never have sex with a 14 year old – gay or straight – and call it consensual,” Gonzalez wrote. “I told [Scott Wiener] this last week.”

Gonzalez stated that Wiener “admitted” that the bill wasn’t “fully cooked,” meaning it would have contradicted or undermined current law.

While affirming that the “type of sex is irrelevant,” namely homosexual intercourse or vaginal intercourse, Gonzalez stood firm on the fact that “no sex between a 24 and 14 year old is consensual.”

While it seems the bill may be more warmly accepted in the Assembly if the age parameters are changed, the only notable amendments to the bill thus far were to remove gendered pronouns in its text and replace them with “the person.” How helpful.

While it’s already disgusting that California law offers any leniency whatsoever toward statutory rapists, it’s wholly unsurprising that LGBT advocates are demanding “equality” for the criminals among their camp as well.

This is all part of a growing trend to normalize adult-child sexual relationships, particularly within the LGBT community, something we’ve been documenting for some time now.

Pedophilia is quietly approaching normalization in society under the rainbow banner of “inclusivity.” Masquerading as “age gap love,” predators are inching ever closer to gaining society’s acceptance of their sexual preferences for young boys and girls.

State-level bills like SB 145 and federal legislation like the “Equality Act” will utterly decimate any protections for children under current law. It is simpy mind-boggling that anyone would be so deceived as to support legislation like this all in the name of “equality,” but here we are.

If you are a California resident, reach out to your representative in the Assembly and Rep. Lorena Gonzalez and urge them to oppose SB 145!
