We have all grown used to the far-left leanings of California’s legislature, but this new bill is a huge stretch, even for the Left Coast.
It is one thing to grant liberty to homosexuals or transsexuals who simply want to be treated fairly and equally under the constitution, it is quite another to ban these people from seeking counseling if their sexual attraction or gender confusion is something they would like to work through rather than accept.
We still have a right to privacy and liberty in this country, and mandating that someone live with desires that trouble them, regardless of how they treat other people, is absolute and total fascism.
With bills penalizing incorrect pronoun usage or mandating hormone therapy for foster children, California is creating a cultural Marxist totalitarianism, where the state has the authority to determine ideology, and all dissenters are punished.
“In a brazen assault on our most fundamental freedoms,” writes Michael Brown in an article published on Life Site News, “California legislators are considering a bill that would make it illegal for anyone to receive professional help to resolve unwanted same-sex attractions or gender confusion. This would apply to people of all ages. People of all religious and moral convictions. It is an absolute outrage, and it must be opposed vigorously.”
“You’re a married father of four, but you struggle deeply with gender identity confusion. You set up an appointment with one of the pastors, only to be told, ‘It is illegal for us to help you,'” he explains.
This is not an exaggeration, he says: “That’s how far this outrageous bill goes, and it’s only one of a series of bills being put forward in California. If the bills pass there, other states will be eager to follow suit.”
“And remember,” he adds, “while California seeks to pass this monstrous legislation, it has no problem backing a psychologist who will help a man embrace his alleged male and female identities simultaneously. Or a counselor who will help someone embrace his alleged animal (or alien) identity. All of that is fine. But to help someone be at home in his own body would be illegal.”
This is absolute insanity. While it will still be perfectly legal to allow a 5-year-old to believe that he can be a she, despite all biological evidence to the contrary, or to indicate that it seriously damaging to allow a 5-year-old (or anyone) to believe this, someone who genuinely struggles with their sexual attraction or with gender confusion and wants to change this would be legally banned from seeking counseling accordingly.
This is, of course, to say nothing of the gross violation of religious liberty this bill would enact. This is nothing short of tyranny. Laws like this are why the Pilgrims sought out a new land where they might worship and live as they chose, why our founding fathers wrote the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights, and why hundreds and thousands of men and women have fought, bled, and died to preserve American liberty.
