In an outstanding trend that is quickly becoming the norm in what proponents are dubbing the “rainbow age of television”, a children’s show on the Cartoon Network recently featured a same-sex kiss between two characters that fans have speculated were lesbians for years now.

The show, Adventure Time, has a target audience of boys ages 2-11.

Life Site News reports:

Premiering in 2010, Adventure Time is a fantasy adventure series mixing humor and drama in a surreal setting. The September 3 series finale featured a scene in which two female characters, Marceline the Vampire Queen and Princess Bubblegum, confirmed years of hints and fan speculation that they were lesbian by kissing each other on the lips.

“We knew that if we put this in, it would get some attention. But would it be too much attention?” said executive producer Adam Muto, who explained that the moment wasn’t in the original script and came at the insistence of storyboard artist Hanna Nyström. “Or would we be downplaying it too much? We knew we wanted to incorporate it, and in the end, you just have no control over how people will remember things.”

On September 9, TVLine approvingly called attention to just how many such moments have made it into American animation – once a field so heavily restricted that certain networks forbade punching in superhero shows – with a list of what it deemed the “10 Most Satisfying LGBT+ Reveals in American Animation.” In the current “rainbow age of television,” Andy Swift wrote, characters are “coming to terms with their sexuality at an unprecedented rate.”

Many parents would certainly be concerned to see a show aimed at young children so decidedly promote a lifestyle that not all households agree with.

It is one thing for adult shows to feature same-sex attraction and relationships, as adults have the discernment and freedom to decide what is best to watch, but many parents may put a children’s show on without the slightest idea that it will be featuring same-sex attraction, a topic they may be far from ready to breach with their preschoolers.

Parents, be vigilant! Make sure you know what your children are watching, because, by the open admission of the LGBT movement, they are deliberately putting same-sex relationships in children’s programming for the sake of normalizing it.

If you’d like to raise your children with biblical values, make sure the media they consume reflects your values and not those of the world.

Also, speak up! If you feel this is inappropriate for young children, we encourage you to reach out to Cartoon Network and voice your concern. If you pay for cable services that include Cartoon Network, you are entitled to give them feedback:
