The father of a woman killed during Saturday’s Unite The Right Rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, recited the words Jesus spoke on Calvary while speaking about his daughter’s death.
“I just think about what the Lord said on the cross,” USA Today quotes Mark Heyer – whose daughter Heather died after a car rammed into her on Saturday – as stating.
“Forgive them. They don’t know what they’re doing.”
Speaking at a national service in memory of his daughter on Wednesday, Heyer added, “we just need to stop all this stuff and forgive each other. I think that’s what the Lord would want us to do, is stop – just love one another.”
Of his daughter, Breitbart quotes Heyer as further stating, “she was a strong woman who had passionate opinions about the equality of everyone, and she tried to stand up for that.”
“With her, it wasn’t lip service,” he continued. “It was real. It was something that she wanted to share with everyone. She had more courage than I did.”
Heyer reportedly went on to state that while he is devastated by the death of his daughter, he hopes “that her life and what has transpired changes people’s hearts.”

According to Heavy, 20-year-old James Alex Fields Jr. is in custody in connection with Heather’s death.
He faces one count of second-degree murder, three counts of malicious wounding, failure to stop for an accident involving a death and hit and run.
A GoFundMe campaign aimed at helping Heather’s family was able to raise $224,870.
Please take a moment to pray for Heather’s family.
Whether or not we agree with Heather’s political viewpoints, she was a woman made in God’s image at the end of the day and leaves behind people who clearly love and miss her dearly.
Pray that Heather’s family may continue to rely on their faith to get them through this difficult period with as much positivity and forgiveness in their heart as they currently possess.
