Fox News has continued its sharp decline from “fair and balanced” conservative commentary with the startling termination of radio host Todd Starnes.
According to Faithwire, the network broke ties with the “Fox News And Commentary” radio host last week after one of his guests, First Baptist Church of Dallas pastor Robert Jeffress, stated that Democrats may worship Moloch, a pagan god worshiped in antiquity primarily through child sacrifice.
The statement in question came up as Starnes and Jeffress were discussing the current impeachment proceedings against President Trump, seemingly referring to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s frequent statements that she prays for President Trump “all the time” and that impeachment proceedings must be done “prayerfully.”
Right Wing Watch reports:
Jeffress said that Trump is “the most pro-life, pro-religious liberty, pro-Israel, pro-conservative judiciary president we have ever had” and warned that “if the left ever regains control of this country again, our nation is finished.”
“I believe that,” replied Starnes. “I have no doubt that they want to especially go after and target Christians in America.”
“I believe that if the left ever gets in control again,” Jeffress said, “they are going to come after conservatives with a vengeance.”
Jeffress went on to rail against “this sanctimonious Nancy Pelosi” for daring to encourage people to pray for the president and for America.
“That reminds me of an arsonist, a pyromaniac with a match in his hand about to set a building on fire, saying, ‘Now pray with me that the destruction I’m about to cause isn’t too severe,’” Jeffress fumed. “If Nancy Pelosi is sincere about bringing this nation together, she will drop this impeachment effort.”
“We just assume they’re praying to God,” Starnes added. “I’m not quite sure.”
“Apparently the god they worship is the pagan god of the Old Testament, Moloch, who allowed for child sacrifice,” Jeffress answered. “The God of the Bible doesn’t sanction the killing of millions and millions of children in the womb. I think the god they are worshiping is the god of their own imagination.”
While Jeffress was clearly being hyperbolic and these “praying” leftists clearly don’t truly give glory and honor to anyone but themselves, there is something to be said for the unsettling accuracy of his comparison.
After all, Moloch, in case you weren’t aware, is the ancient deity to whom parents sacrificed their firstborn children in horrific, gruesome rites in hopes that Moloch would bless them with financial prosperity for themselves and their future children.
If that isn’t exactly the mindset we see in the culture that celebrates unborn babies being poisoned, burned with saline, or dismembered in the womb so their mothers can focus on their careers, their lifestyles, and the children they do want, we don’t know what is.
Of course, hordes of liberals took to social media to gloat about their cheap victory of silencing yet another conservative commentator, but this was markedly different.
These people didn’t just cheer on Fox News’ questionable decision to fire Starnes, they brazenly praised Moloch for it.
Leftists who lined up to mockingly praise the false god included Vox writer David Roberts:

Congressional candidate Brianna Wu:
Fellow liberals, I regret to inform you Fox News has discovered our worship of the Pagan dark God Moloch. https://t.co/ma5GojEZWu

Progressive news writer Oliver Willis:

Author and professor Daniel Drezner:

NYT reporter Mike Isaac:

The reaction from these so-called “progressives” is so shameless and offensive, even Nancy Pelosi would be ashamed to own it.
This just goes to show you that no one is truly neutral when it comes to the true and living God and Creator. Either you love him with all your heart through your relationship with His Son Jesus Christ, or you hate Him, you mock Him, and you shake your rebellious little fists at Him and His children.
We aren’t struggling with mere political opponents of flesh and blood here, folks. Scripture tells us in Ephesians 6 that we wrestle “against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”
Never forget this!
