During Tuesday night’s broadcast of Tucker Carlson Tonight, Dr. Paul Hruz of the Washington University School of Medicine summed up, perfectly, why transgender “women” should not be allowed to participate in competitive sports against biological women.
Laura Ingraham, filling in for Tucker Carlson, introduced Dr. Hruz as an endocrinologist from St. Louis, stating that he “studies hormones in children who have some type of gender dysphoria or some type of gender identity issue.”
“Dr. Hruz, good to see you,” Ingraham stated. “This is quite an interesting and quick development in our culture and now in sporting events, where people who are born biologically as men, at some point in time decide they are transgender persons, they become women in surgery, hormones and so forth, and then they compete.”
“Now what is wrong with that?” she continued. “If that’s how they feel, if they’re fulfilling their destiny, what’s the big deal.”
Dr. Hruz’s reply began, “well, it’s really important to know that while hormones can play, certainly, a role in athletic performance, by giving a male estrogen and suppressing their normal testosterone, there are many aspects of fundamental biology that don’t change.”
“That includes the imprinting that occurs at the genetic level of every cell and every tissue in the body,” he continued.
“It’s really unknown,” he added, of the exact effects hormones have on one’s athletic performance. “As you’ve said, it’s come out so rapidly.”
As if the interview with Ingraham wasn’t already triggering enough for leftists, Dr. Hruz and Ingraham went on to discuss the immorality of allowing children to undergo gender reassignment treatments.
Following Ingraham’s presentation of statistics indicating that the number of openly transgender individuals has skyrocketed in less than a decade, Dr. Hruz stated, “there’s a lot of concern that many, especially in the area of children, many children that would normally have realigned their identity in agreement with their biological sex are moving forward now into hormonal treatment.”
