Games Volunteers Told Not To Say “Ladies and Gentleman” To Avoid Offending People

Political correctness comes in a wide variety of insanity, but nothing comes close to the sort of weirdness we’re seeing sweep the nation and the world due to the culture’s attempt to abandon gender.

Not long after the same-sex marriage ruling by the Supreme Court, the left’s new crusade became the acceptance in mainstream culture of the transgender lifestyle and of the ever growing list of recognized genders.

Now, apparently, liberals are also attempting to limit the speech used in public so as to ensure that no one is offended or has their feelings hurt.

The Gold Coast’s Commonwealth Games have told volunteers they can no longer use terms like “ladies and gentlemen” or “boys and girls.”

The Herald Sun is reporting:

In a gold medal for political correctness, the official Commonwealth Games orientation training handbook calls on volunteers to use gender-neutral language.

The instructions have been slammed as “political correctness gone insane”.

The handbook, given to 15,000 volunteers and official staff and contractors, dubbed Games Shapers, instructs those at the Games to call people parents, rather than mothers or fathers, and partners, rather than husbands or girlfriends.

Some of the instructions are born of a desire not to offend people identifying as transgender.

“Use gender-neutral or gender-inclusive language,” the 88-page handbook said.

“This can involve discouragement of the use of gender-specific job titles, such as policeman/policewoman, instead using police officer.

“Swapping gendered words for gender-neutral ones can make everyone feel included,” the book said.

“This also demonstrates our understanding that not everyone identifies as heterosexual or cisgender.

“We can avoid words like guys, girls, ladies and gentlemen, and instead use words like students, everyone, folks and all.”

Along with all of this insanity, the volunteers have been ordered not to refer to physically impaired athletes as “superhuman” or “extraordinary,” while also avoiding the term “able-bodied” for those who are without impairments.

They were also forbidden to share any of their opinions on social issues or politics as well.

Essentially, these volunteers are required to walk on eggshells and tip toe through the tulips in an attempt to avoid hurting someone’s feelings over something as simple as a biological male being called “sir.”

If your DNA says you’re a man, wearing a skirt and a wig or growing your hair out isn’t going to change that fact, no matter what your “feelings” tell you. Therefore, it should not be offensive or strange that someone would recognize you as a biological male and address you as such.

The rest of the world is not obligated to join a person in the expression of their mental illness and it’s wrong to force folks to do so for the sake of political correctness.
