Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate: Maine’s Whiteness Is Bad News

Mark Eves, a Democratic gubernatorial candidate from Maine, has elicited more than a few raised eyebrows following his declaration that his state’s high population of whites is “bad news.”

Maine First Media reports that Eves made his remarks during a Maine People’s Alliance event earlier this week before a number of activists and grassroots supporters.

The title of the specific forum he was participating in at the time was called Resistance Rising.

Ironically, as Big League Politics points out, that forum was promoted by the Maine People’s Alliance under the premise that “now, more than ever, we need progressive leaders who will work to help everyday Mainers and fight back against the racist and xenophobic rhetoric and policies coming from Washington and Augusta.”

In other words, in the eyes of the Maine People’s Alliance, calling for stronger borders and increased security for America is racist but deeming an entire race of people “bad news” is perfectly okay.

Breitbart quotes Maine GOP Chair Dr. Demi Kouzounas as responding to Eves’ words by declaring, “this is yet another revelation that Maine Democrats are sadly more focused on the color of people’s skin than the content of their character.”

“Maine people are looking for answers on issues such as jobs, taxes, the state budget, energy costs and welfare reform, and Mark Eves is instead focusing on the color of our residents’ skin and identity politics,” he reportedly continued.

A number of people have also taken to the web to slam Eves.

This is not the first time a Democrat from Maine has been caught lashing out against white people.

As Big League Politics reports, in April a candidate for the Maine State Senate was filmed celebrating an increase in suicide rates among white males.

“You know, I saw a thing that said a lot of men, white men, are committing suicide,” Richard Fochtmann stated. “And I almost said yeah, great!”

“Then I thought about it and I thought, well, maybe I shouldn’t say that in public.”

The remarks, made at an event attended by several Democrats, were greeted with cheers and laughter – footage of which was promptly made available to the public.
