After MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell called on Americans to pray and read their Bibles during a White House coronavirus press conference on Monday, he was “appalled” to find himself the target of incessant negative press from the mainstream media.
At the press conference, Lindell announced that his Minnesota bedding factory would begin dedicating 75% of its production capacity to manufacturing masks to ease shortages caused by the novel coronavirus pandemic.
The Christian entrepreneur then took the opportunity to give the American people an informal, off-script homily, encouraging them “to use this time at home to get back in the word, read our Bibles, and spend time with our families.”
“God gave us grace on Nov. 8, 2016, to change the course we were on,” Lindell declared. “God had been taken out of our schools and lives, a nation had turned its back on God.”
“Our president gave us so much hope where, just a few short months ago, we had the best economy, the lowest unemployment, and wages going up,” he continued. “It was amazing. With our great president, vice president, and this administration, the other great people in this country, and praying daily, we will get through this and get back to a place that is stronger and safer than ever.”
As Lindell left the Rose Garden podium, Trump said, “I did not know he was going to do that. He’s a friend of mine and I appreciate that.”
Unsurprisingly, Lindell’s impromptu speech was not given much charitable treatment by left-bent journalists who simply wrote him off as the “MyPillow Guy.”
According to Breitbart, CNN’s chief White House correspondent Jim Acosta suggested the White House’s coronavirus briefings could be “better designed” by not having “these PR stunts like Mr. Pillow coming out and giving a plug for his company, and that sort of thing.”
In a Tuesday appearance on “Lou Dobbs Tonight,” Lindell denounced the media for criticizing his “message of hope.”
“I heard Jim Acosta attacked me too and he was just 10 feet from me in the Rose Garden,” Lindell told Dobbs. “This is just evil.”
“I’m sorry, I put out a message of hope to the country that God had given us grace on November 8, 2016 for such a time,” Lindell continued. “Right now we’re part of this big revival, we can sit at home, we can get back in the Word and spend time with our families, and everybody pray that we have this great administration that can make some decisions to get us through this.”
“I’m appalled by the journalists that I see there,” Lindell went on. “I used to think ‘are they really that evil?’ Well, yes they are.”
Lindell also explained that he had not expected to speak at the news briefing, but only did so after Trump invited him to the podium.
“Those words, God just let them out,” Lindell told the Washington Examiner. “He used me as a vessel to get that message out there. I stand by that statement at that podium.”
Now, more than ever, we must be speaking the truth to this dying world. If we have the boldness to do so, the world may hate us, but God will grant us the strength to bring him glory!
