NY Lawmakers Pushing To Criminalize Cat Declawing – Late-Term Abortion Still Considered Humane

New York state lawmakers are working on passing legislation that would make it illegal for cats to be declawed. This seems perfectly reasonable when you consider how painful it is for a cat to be declawed.

According to the Associated Press, “New York would be the first state in the U.S. to ban the declawing of cats under legislation approved by lawmakers at the request of cat owners, animal welfare advocates and many veterinarians who call the procedure cruel and needless.”

“The bill, which would subject veterinarians to $1,000 fines for performing the operation, now heads to the desk of Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat, whose representatives said he will review the bill before deciding if he will sign it.”

This is the same governor, of course, who signed a bill in January legalizing late-term abortion all the way through the baby’s due date. may sign a bill that makes the declawing of cats a crime. Let that sink in.

If Cuomo signs this bill, that will mean in the state of New York cats are afforded more legal protection than unborn human babies.

until very recently, lawmakers claimed their goal was to make abortion “safe, legal, and rare.” The contemporary pro-abort camp has replaced this with “abortion on demand, without apologies.”

No cat declawing, though.

As reported by AP, New York’s notorious  late-term abortion bill “authorizes physician assistants to perform some abortions and moves the section of state law dealing with abortion from the penal code to health statutes.”

In other words, any abortion is legal and allowed under the new law. Instead of being evaluated under the penal code for legality, abortions are now simply being viewed as a health issue. This definitely does not keep them rare. Also, by allowing physician’s assistants to perform some abortions it makes them much less safe.

“In the face of a federal government intent on rolling back Roe v. Wade and women’s reproductive rights, I promised that we would pass this critical legislation within the first 30 days of the new session — and we got it done,” Gov. Cuomo exclaimed at the bill’s signing.

“Today we are taking a giant step forward in the hard-fought battle to ensure a woman’s right to make her own decisions about her own personal health, including the ability to access an abortion. With the signing of this bill, we are sending a clear message that whatever happens in Washington, women in New York will always have the fundamental right to control their own body.”

What about the bodily autonomy of unborn babies? New York state makes no recognition of these unborn children’s constitutional rights, but is apparently incredibly concerned about…housecats.

Democratic state Assemblywoman Linda Rosenthal, called the process of declawing a cat “barbaric and inhumane.” The bill would only allow the procedure in cases of infection or injury.

How sick is this?! “Barbaric and inhumane” is dismembering an unborn baby in the name of “choice.”

“The end result is a barbaric procedure that results in the mutilation of the animal,” Rosenthal argued. “Frankly, if you’re worried about your furniture, then you shouldn’t be getting a cat.”

Wow.

There it is folks. The crux of the issue.

If you are worried about maintaining the quality of your furniture it might not be in your best interest to get a cat. Why is it so unfathomable for the left to apply the same logic in the case of human babies? If you are concerned about your bodily autonomy maybe you should refrain from participating in activities that could potentially lead to making a baby.

Instead, the left pushes abortion as birth control and insists it is perfectly acceptable to mutilate an unborn baby simply because it is inconvenient for the woman to become a mother. At the risk of sounding redundant, taken one more moment to let it sink in that cats have more legal protections than unborn babies in New York. This is absolutely heartbreaking.

Rosenthal said in a statement, according to CNN, “Now that New York is poised to become the first state in the nation to ban cat declawing, the days when this procedure is cavalierly offered for the convenience of the owners to protect couches and curtain are numbered.”

How can anyone miss the irony and hypocrisy of this statement?
