Despite orders from the state’s Attorney General to stop all non-essential medical procedures, abortion clinics in Ohio are continuing to offer abortions. By definition, elective abortions are never essential, yet Planned Parenthood and other clinics refuse to refrain from the procedure.
Last Wednesday, the Ohio Department of Health ordered all “non-essential and elective surgeries” to be temporarily suspended but did not specifically mention of abortion services. The clinics’ defiance of the order caused the state’s Attorney General’s office to send letters to two of the six clinics in the state that perform surgical abortions, ordering them to “immediately stop performing non-essential and elective surgical abortions,” according to CBS News.
CBS News further reports:
On Saturday, a spokesperson for the Attorney General’s office clarified to CBS News that all of the state’s abortion providers needed to stop offering the procedure.
But at least five of the state’s six surgical providers say abortion is essential and time sensitive. Because of that, they say there won’t be any interruption of services.
“Planned Parenthood’s top priority is ensuring that every person can continue accessing essential health care, including abortion. We know your health care can’t wait,” said Iris E. Harvey and Kersha Deibel, the respective heads of Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio and Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio Region, in a statement provided to CBS News. “Abortion is an essential, time-sensitive medical procedure.”
Lawyers for Planned Parenthood have responded to the letter from the Attorney General’s office claiming that abortions are essential and therefore they are compliant with the order.
Preterm of Cleveland is also saying they will continue to provide abortion services but, according to their website, will be reducing the number of appointments and “instituting even more stringent precautionary measures to keep our patients, staff, and their families safe and healthy.”
“In the midst of the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic, we know that our most vulnerable patients will have even more challenges getting the services they need, and community care will be key to preventing a reproductive healthcare crisis down the line,” the abortion clinic wrote on its website.
Do not be fooled by the faux concern. These clinics do not appear to care about life at any stage.
According to CBS:
The Attorney General’s office said it would pursue legal action against the clinics if the Health Department determines the facilities are in violation of the order restricting “non-essential” surgeries.
“This is not about abortions,” said Bethany McCorkle, a spokesperson for the Attorney General, in an email to CBS News on Sunday evening. “This is about nonessential surgeries using PPE during this pandemic.”
Continue to pray for revival in America. Only God can move the hearts and minds of those consumed by the death culture of the left. Never has there been a time that more poignantly highlights how distorted our priorities are when it comes to the preservation of life.
