The University of Minnesota has told white and straight students they’re not allowed to use the safe spaces on campus—because whiteness and straightness is apparently a threat to the “safeness” of the space, or something.
A group called the “Gender and Sexuality Center for Queer and Trans Life” on campus sponsors an event called “Tongues Tied”—space where people can go to talk about sexuality, race, and gender.
But white, straight people are, interestingly enough, uninvited.
“For our allies: we do appreciate your voices and commitment to dismantling racism and homophobia; however, please note that this is a space created for LGBTQIA and/or same-gender-loving people of color,” the space’s description reads.
People are apparently only invited to participate if they “identify as a queer and/or trans indigenous person or person of color.”
The hypocrisy is just remarkable.
All persons should be treated equally—with the love and respect of Christ—without exception. There’s no argument to be made against that fact.
But that’s not what the LGBT community is doing here.
When the LGBT community creates “safe spaces” that exclude white, straight students, they’re discriminating against them for being exactly that—white and straight.
It’s a mentality that creates a psychological separation between people and puts the community at risk of potentially facilitating hostility between the two groups.
Earlier this year, a “White Privilege Checklist” came to light at the University of Minnesota as well.
It included items such as “I can go shopping alone most of the time, pretty well assured that I will not be followed or harassed,” and “Whether I use checks, credit cards, or cash, I can count on my skin color not to work against the appearance of financial responsibility.”
Is this not a perfect example of the fact that every race and gender, in some shape or form, suffers societal stereotypes?
And these exclusive “safe spaces” only perpetuate that divisive mentality.
Here’s what The Activist Mommy had to say about it:
“How the leftist LGBT movement has managed to sell themselves as tolerant while simultaneously being the most bigoted and racist community in America, is truly nothing short of miraculous. This would never fly amongst a thinking people. Our dumbed down iPhone-addicted culture has been duped into tolerating bigotry and racism from the very people who accuse us of the same. This kind of racist behavior must not be allowed on our taxpayer-funded universities.”
