UK Doctor Fired for Refusing to Refer to Bearded Male Patient As “Madam”

Freedom of religion is the cornerstone of all western societies. Our religious liberties are at risk like they’ve never been before. We are being forced to not only accept but participate in the delusions of “transgenderism” at the cost of our personal religious convictions, as one doctor in the United Kingdom has found out.

David Mackereth, a Christian doctor with 26 years of experience with the National Health Service (NHS), was fired last year from his position with the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) for being unwilling to conform to the fantasies of gender dysphoria sufferers.

Christian Headlines reports:

“What would you do if you were to assess someone who is obviously a man but asks to be referred to as ‘she’ or ‘Missis’ in the report?” James Owen of the employment agency allegedly asked him. The agency had head-hunted Owen for the role.

Mackereth replied that as a Christian, he would not be able to follow such an order in good conscience. Instead, he would use pronouns that reflect a person’s biology. He was suspended.

It almost seems like a joke! A medical professional being asked to refer to someone with the biological makeup of man as “she” or “missis,” what kind of request is that? As a doctor of 26 years, is he not entitled to expertise in this area? Should we not trust an experienced doctor in determining which pronouns are appropriate for each patient? Wouldn’t we be concerned if a medical professional was unwilling to speak the truth about gender?

Owen proceeded to follow up with Mackereth with two more letters asking him the same thing, to which Mackereth gave the same response. Ultimately, he was let go from his job, meeting the end of his 26 years of service with the NHS.

“I am a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ,” Mackereth responded. “He made all things including/especially mankind. We read that He made them ‘male and female’ (Genesis chapter 1 verse 27). In good conscience, I believe that gender is determined by biology and genetics, and I see no reason to be in any way ashamed of that.”

We need more medical professionals and Christians willing to be bold in these matters. Mackereth has every right to conduct himself in a matter that agrees with his own conscience. As a medical doctor, he is unwilling to discredit himself by forfeiting truth and science in the name of tolerance and, as a Christian, he is taking a stand for what is biblical and right. It is completely insane to expect everyone to conform to this ridiculous push to use “appropriate” pronouns for transgender people.

The DWP claimed that Mackereth’s refusal to play along with the unrealistic demands of transgender people would be considered harassment according to the Equality Act. Forcing someone to violate deeply held religious convictions in this manner is not harassment?

Mackereth has taken action against the DWP and is rightfully claiming that they are the ones violating the Equality Act. While opening his testimony in front of a tribunal panel, Mackereth said, “What I object to is being forced to do violence to language and common sense, in a ritual denial of an obvious truth, for the sake of an ideology which I disbelieve and detest.”

Well said! As free people, we have the right to disbelieve and detest any ideology we choose. It is fascism to force compliance and acceptance of ideas, especially where common sense is so obviously being violated. It truly is violence to language.
