Vulgar Animated Series “Big Mouth” Totes Disproven Planned Parenthood Statistics

We’ve covered the Netflix series “Big Mouth” in the past for it’s highly graphic and vulgar portrayal of puberty and adolescence.

Some could even go as far as to call “animated child pornography,” as it repeatedly shows child characters in distinctly sexual scenarios. It most certainly would be if it were live action.

To add to all this godless vulgarity, the show also recently referenced frequently disproven statistics on Planned Parenthood’s “services”.

The Daily Wire reports that, in one scene of a recent episode, a character calls Planned Parenthood an “abortion factory” and is told he has no idea what he’s talking about.

The character “Missy” repeats the common claim that “abortions make up only a tiny portion of what they do,” a statistic that even the Washington Post had to assign a “three Pinocchios” rating when fact-checking.

The supposed 3% of overall services taken up by abortion at Planned Parenthood clinics is derived from misleading practices of tracking overall services provided, they explain:

While each service is listed separately, many clients received multiple services. A woman may get a pregnancy test, birth control and a pap smear, but she would be counted three times, once for each service, in the annual report.

The Washington Post explains that those trying to gain a more accurate understanding of just how much of Planned Parenthood’s “services” include providing abortion look instead at how much non-governmental revenue comes from abortion procedures.

They arrive at this number by taking the total number of abortions performed each year, and multiplying that by the average cost of the procedure.

…advocates and opponents of abortion rights have calculated somewhere between 15 percent and 37 percent of the organization’s annual non-government health services revenue comes from abortion services. Depending on which price you use, you can even get up to 55 percent. But this type of math is speculative and has limitations. For one, it does not take into account sliding payment scales for patients or reflect costs absorbed by insurance.

Whatever the exact revenue percentage, we do know that Planned Parenthood performs hundreds of thousands of abortions a year–321,384 in the 2016-2017 year, to be exact.

Whichever way you slice it, the 3% figure is clearly mythical.
