As of writing, more than 100,000 people have signed a petition requesting that the White House “formally recognize Antifa as a terrorist organization.”

“Terrorism is defined as ‘the use of violence and intimidation in pursuit of political aims,'” the petition reads. “This definition is the same definition used to declare ISIS and other groups, as terrorist organizations.”

Shifting focus to everyone’s *favorite* anarchist collective, the petition continues, “Antifa has earned this title due to its violent actions in multiple cities and their influence in the killings of multiple police officers throughout the United States.”

“It is time for the Pentagon to be consistent in its actions – and just as they rightfully declared ISIS a terror group, they must declare AntiFa a terror group – on the grounds of principle, integrity, morality, and safety.”

Antifa has indeed been responsible for plenty of politically-motivated violence.

In a recent article from CNN, several anarchists associated with the group are quoted as stating that violence is necessary for their political opinions to be heard.

“You have to put your body in the way,” one Portland, Oregon Antifa member said. “You have to make it speak in the language that they understand. And sometimes that is violence.”

Footage from several rallies indicates Antifa not only preaches this but wholeheartedly believes it too.

It is incredibly important that we as Christians disavow political violence not just in this instance where the perpetrators are leftists but in all instances, including when perpetrators are conservatives.

Continue to say a prayer for those who exercise their First Amendment rights, that God might deter those tempted to resort to political violence as a means of suppressing alternative opinions.
